Biography
Born in Queens, New York in 1969, Thomas Diem was immersed in the world of
pottery and ceramics from a very young age. His father, a classically trained ceramicist,
came to Ireland in the late seventies, settling the family in the
village of Malahide, just north of Dublin City.
Early days studying under leading Irish potters acted both as an education
and an incitement for Thomas to find his own individual style. After honing his skills with the
Craft Council of Ireland, Thomas struck out on his own in 1997 with his line of pottery
catering for the new, design conscious Irish market. Since that time, Thomas Diem Pottery
has become a staple of Interior Design and Giftware catalogues,
and his work is available in Design Centres nationwide.
